Chris Cortez, guitarist, vocalist, band leader, concert promoter, and record label owner is a busy man.
An international recording artist with a wide range of musical interests, Chris ranks among the top jazz guitarists in the world. He's been featured in Downbeat, Jazziz, Jazz Times, Le Jazz Hot Paris, etc... He's performed at clubs and festivals all over the world. His recordings are critically acclaimed.
Chris' discography includes over 20 CDs as a leader, sideman, and/or producer. He's just released his 6th solo CD, Aunt Nasty, already getting rave reviews. Chris owns the record label Blue Bamboo Music Inc, which supports 10 artists, and is also involved in concert promotions, hosting artists like Jeff Coffin's Mu'tet, and fellow guitarists Pat Martino, Charlie Hunter, and Mike Stern.
Equally at home with jazz, rock and blues, a typical performance includes a variety of musical styles, artfully blended together with high energy, and virtuosity clearly on display.

Chris owns and operates a full service recording studio which is available to artists from many different genres of music. Chris's record label, Blue Bamboo Music Inc, features the cream of Houston's music community, and artists from throughout the world, all of whom drop in to perform with him on a regular basis. Chris' talented trio can be expanded to accomodate up to eight musicians.
